Teresa Ministries was established in 2014 by a group of ten committed Ugandan lay faithful who shared a common vision of serving vulnerable and less privileged members of society. Under the spiritual guidance of Rev. Fr. Raymond Kalanzi, the pioneers set out to demonstrate practical acts of charity and compassion.

The ministry began by supporting children from disadvantaged families to access education, organizing school fees and scholastic materials for needy pupils. As the reach expanded, the organization registered formally as an NGO in 2018, leading to the creation of Mama Teresa Babies Home and eventually Sister Teresa Babies Home in Nsambya.
